  • Is a day pass from the SBB, municipality, valid on the route network of the Jungfrau Railways?

    Day tickets (day ticket with Half Fare, day ticket without Half Fare, municipality day ticket, Post day ticket, Duo day ticket, etc.) are valid for free travel from Interlaken Ost to Grindelwald, Wengen and Mürren.

    The day ticket is valid on the following connecting routes:

    • Customers with a day ticket with Half Fare
      These customers pay for routes in the Half Fare area connecting tickets at half price according to price list.
    • Customers with a day ticket without Half Fare Card (e.g. municipality day ticket, Post day ticket)
      These customers pay for routes in the Half Fare area connecting tickets at full price according to price list.

    * Connecting routes in the Half Fare area:

    • Grindelwald-Kleine Scheidegg-Wengen (Wengernalp Railway)
    • Kleine Scheidegg-Jungfraujoch (Jungfrau Railway)
    • Interlaken-Harder Kulm (Harder Railway)
    • Wilderswil-Schynige Platte (Schynige Platte Railway)
    • Grindelwald-First (First Aerial Cableway)
    • Grindelwald Terminal – Eiger Glacier (Eiger Express)
    • Grindelwald Terminal – Eiger Glacier - Jungfraujoch (Eiger Express)
  • Is the Junior Travelcard valid?

    Children from 6 to 15 years of age travel free of charge with the Junior Travelcard or Children's Co-Travelcard.

    The family reductions such as the Junior Card, Children's Co-Travelcard or Swiss Family Card are not valid in combination with the the Jungfrau Travel Pass or the Unlimted Jungfrau Summer Pass. Children aged 6-15.99 years require Jungfrau Travel Pass or Unlimited Jungfrau Summer Pass at a price of CHF 30.00 net per child.

  • What do I need to book online?

    All you need for your booking is internet access. Put your mountain railway ticket, your skipass or a package in the shopping cart. You then pay conveniently & securely with a credit card and print* your travel documents at home. Travel directly to your destination – we take care of all the rest. You can book using a guest account as well as with a user account.

    *The mountain railway ticket can be presented as a mobile ticket on your smartphone without a printout.

  • Is a group reservation necessary?

    Seat reservation is required for groups from 10 persons. This can be confirmed at the earliest 3 months in advance. Group reservations can be made online in the following form, by telephone at +41 33 828 72 53 or via e-mail to reservation(at)jungfrau.ch.

    Reservation is not obligatory for individual travellers in the Jungfrau Railway, but is recommended and can be made via our online shop at jungfrau.ch/shop/en/bergbahn/reservation.

  • Do I need to buy a ticket for our dog?

    Dogs can be transported free of charge on the following routes:

    • Interlaken Ost - Lauterbrunnen
    • Interlaken Ost - Grindelwald
    • Interlaken - Harder Kulm
    • Wilderswil - Schynige Platte
    • Lauterbrunnen - Mürren
    • Lauterbrunnen - Kleine Scheidegg - Grindelwald
    • Grindelwald - First
    • Grindelwald Terminal - Eigergletscher
    • Grindelwald Grund - Kleine Scheidegg
    • Lauterbrunnen - Kleine Scheidegg
       

    On the route Eigergletscher - Jungfraujoch and return you pay CHF 30 for each dog. Dog tickets are not available online but can be purchased at any Jungfraubahnen sales point.

  • How can I submit a loss report?

  • I cannot complete the activities due to the weather. Will I get a refund?

    Adventure Packages as a whole and individual services derived from them are as a rule not refundable. If the implementation cannot be guaranteed due to a force majeure event such as weather conditions etc., JBM will first try to offer an alternative activity (mountain cart, first flyer, first glider, Trottibike Scooter etc.). If this is not possible, or if the customer rejects another activity, JBM’s service obligation shall become null and void. Only if no alternative can be offered and the reason for the unfulfilled service lies within the sphere of influence of JBM (such as technical problems at the adventure facility or feeder railway) will a partial refund for services not received be granted.

  • I was unable to complete my activity due to waiting times. Will I get a refund?

    Taking waiting times (which can exceed 2 hours) into account is the responsibility of the customers and beyond the control of Jungfraubahn Management AG, which is why missing the operating hours does not constitute grounds for a refund. Portions of the Adventure Package and individual tickets redeemed for an activity are non-refundable. This includes in particular the journey by feeder railway (e.g. First Aerial Cableway).

  • I bought the Adventure Package for the wrong day. Can I expect a refund?

    Tickets are generally non-refundable. However, for a fee of CHF 20, a booking can be rescheduled to another date. To do so, please contact our helpdesk team at helpdesk@jungfrau.ch.

  • Can the Adventure Tickets be bought on site?

    Yes, all tickets can only be bought on site directly at the valley station or at the activities. In the event of large crowds, longer waiting times must be expected. Individual activities for the day may sell out if the waiting times are too long.

  • Can the departure times be reserved for the individual activities?

    Unfortunately not. You have to queue for each activity as you would for a ski lift. In the event of large crowds, longer waiting times must be expected. Individual activities for the day may sell out if the waiting times are too long.

  • Was ist beim Adventure Package inklusive?

    Das Adventure Package beinhaltet die gekaufte Anzahl Aktivitäten (1 oder 2) sowie unlimitierte Fahrten mit der Gondelbahn zwischen Grindelwald und First (in beide Richtungen).

  • I would like to go directly to the ski lift – without any waiting or queuing.

    You have the following options to receive your skipass when you buy online:

    2nd Receive the KeyCard for the Jungfrau Ski Region on site (pick-up machine / sales point)

    If you already have your own data carrier and want to load it, you can load the following data carriers during the ordering process:

    2nd Receive the KeyCard for the Jungfrau Ski Region on site (pick-up machine / sales point)
    The KeyCard for the Jungfrau Ski Region on which your skipass is loaded is free of charge. Just like that and without a deposit. If you have purchased a skipass online, you can obtain your KeyCard as follows. All you need for the purchase is the order code or QR code generated when ordering.

    At Pick Up machines
    During the ordering process, select the option "I will collect the pass on site (QR code / voucher)". You have the option of picking up your skipass at one of the pick-up machines at the following locations. All you have to do is scan the QR code and you will receive your purchased skipass directly from the machine. Pick up is possible at the following locations:

    • Top of Europe Flagship Store, Interlaken
    • Interlaken Ost railway station
    • Zweilütschinen railway station
    • Lauterbrunnen railway station
    • Grindelwald Terminal
    • Grindelwald Grund railway station
    • First Railway valley station, Grindelwald

    During the ordering process, select the option "I will collect the pass on site (QR code / voucher)".
    You have the option of purchasing your skipass at all Jungfrau Railway sales points.

    During the ordering process, select the option "I want to receive the pass by post. CHF 5 will be charged for shipping and you will get your skipass within 3–7 working days.

  • Which ski areas can I book online?

    There is only one ski pass, the "Skipass Jungfrau" for the Jungfrau Ski Region. (Grindelwald-Wengen ski area with Kleine Scheidegg and Männlichen ski areas, Grindelwald-First ski area and Mürren-Schilthorn ski area). This ski pass includes the arrival and departure with the Bernese Oberland Railway (BOB) from Interlaken Ost.

  • Pick-up methods: How do I get my skipass when I buy it online?

    You have the following options to receive your skipass when you buy online:

    1. Load your own KeyCard / data carrier

  • What must I take note of regarding the skipass?

    You pay for your skipass at the end of the booking by credit card. Payment by invoice or directly on site is not possible. Every skipass is personal and non-transferable. The holder must be able to identify himself on request. Lost passes cannot be replaced. No cancellation, exchange, compensation or cash refund is possible. Your booking is also subject to the General Terms and Conditions of Jungfrau Railways Management AG.

  • Validity in the region: Is rail travel included in the skipass?

    Skipass Jungfrau
    Valid in the entire Jungfrau Ski Region – comprising Grindelwald-First, Männlichen, Kleine Scheidegg, Wengen, Mürren, Schilthorn*, including travel by train from Interlaken Ost.
    *On the Mürren-Schilthorn route, 1/2, 1 and 2-day tickets are only valid for the ascent.

     

  • Children travel free on Saturdays: How do I get the free children’s one-day pass?

    Up to three children (6 to 15 years) receive a free day pass on Saturdays, if an adult buys a one-day or afternoon ticket at the list price. The offer is available online and at railway stations in the Jungfrau Ski Region. Please note that only day tickets are available online. 

    Add up to 3 children to your skipass purchase for any Saturday at the online shop and automatically receive day tickets for the children free of charge. 

    Offer not applicable to multi-day or season passes.

  • “Top Ticket”: When can I buy a Jungfraujoch “Top Ticket”?

  • Is there an Earlybird ski pass?

    No. Earlybird ski passes are no longer offered.

  • Reimbursement: Do I get a refund in the event of an incident?

    The Jungfrau Ski Region does not give refunds on ski passes purchased in the event of a service interruption, accident or illness.


    You can take out cancellation insurance during the skipass ordering process. If you are not able to take a trip or have to abandon it because of a serious illness, major pregnancy complications, serious injury or death, the cancellation insurance will assume contractually owed costs up to the arranged sum insured.   • Groups: What are the conditions for group skipasses?

    You can order your group ski pass using the following order form for groups.

    Groups of children from state schools with a group ski pass order benefit from special conditions. One free ski pass for one accompanying person is granted for every 10 schoolchild ski passes purchased. Additional accompanying persons purchase the ski passes applicable to their age group at the relevant group price.
     

  • What medical advice is there for traveling with the Jungfrau railways?

    Our railways allow rapid transport to high altitude. As altitude increases, air pressure and the oxygen in the air decreases accordingly. The healthy body has excellent adaptation mechanisms that allow a relatively rapid rise to medium and higher altitudes up to 4000 metres without damage to health. Typical altitude sickness (altitude oedema) will appear 6–12 hours into your stay at over 2500 metres at the earliest.

    Therefore, altitude sickness has no practical significance for a short stay at the Jungfraujoch. Nevertheless, you should only make trips to high altitudes if you feel healthy. Altitude is linked to risks for certain cardiac, pulmonary, vascular and blood diseases. The following recommendations apply

  • Under what conditions can one enjoy an altitude stay without restrictions?

    • An advanced age is no barrier to a stay at a high altitude.
    • For blood pressure patients who are well controlled with medication, the altitude is not a concern.
    • Asthmatics can travel to high altitudes without any problems. High-altitude air is less polluted with particles that can cause an asthma attack.
    • Epileptics who are well controlled with medication should be able to negotiate the altitude.
  • When should one seek medical advice before an altitude stay?

    • Patients who have had successful surgery of the coronary arteries may plan a high-altitude excursion after consultation with their physician, if they are fully capable in the lowlands and do not suffer from angina pectoris.
    • For patients with cardiac enlargement and a limited pumping capacity of the heart (cardiac insufficiency), a visit to the Jungfraujoch is possible after prior medical consultation, if capacity is not severely impaired at that level.
    • For certain chronic blood disorders with anaemia, prior medical consultation is recommended.
    • Pregnant women: Above 2500–3000 metres, there may be a certain risk of pregnancy even without pre-existing diseases. Caution is therefore advised.
    • Infants in the first 2 years of life should not sleep at higher than 2500 metres. Short-term stays at the Jungfraujoch are unproblematic. Infants and young children are often unable to equalise pressure during descent and are therefore increasingly at risk of ear irritation. Regular swallowing (drinking, sucking on a bottle) during the descent can prevent the occurrence of irritation. Because children can chill faster than adults, always pay attention to sufficient protection from the cold at high altitude. Sunglasses and good sunscreen are necessary on the glacier!
  • For whom is an altitude stay not recommended?

    • Lung and heart patients who are already short of breath while at rest or when climbing stairs are advised not stay at high altitude.
    • Patients with angina pectoris or severe impaired performance with heart enlargement and heart failure should not stay at high altitude.
    • Coronary artery disease (angina pectoris) and heart enlargement with medical therapy should not stay at high altitude.
    • Patients with a pronounced risk profile for cardiovascular disease (smoker + high blood pressure + diabetes + high blood fats + overweight + occasional chest pain) should consult the doctor before staying at high altitude.
    • Do not visit high altitudes after having striated muscles or a stroke.
  • What other practical tips are there ?

    • A decongestant nasal spray is recommended for colds before descent, in order to prevent ear irritation caused by lack of pressure balancing.
    • The ambient temperature drops with increasing altitude. Therefore, be sure to wear warm clothes for trips over 1500 metres, even in during the heat of summer.
    • The intense radiation at high altitude requires sufficient sun protection for the skin and eyes. There is great risk of snow blindness on the glacier without sunglasses!
    • Nicotine and alcohol in excess before or during the trip can ruin your day.
