Simply Red with lead singer Mick Hucknall are sure to perform many of their hits, including “Holding Back The Years”, “Stars”, “Ring That Bell” and “If You Don't Know Me By Now”. For around 40 years, the British group has been delighting audiences around the globe with their mix of reggae, funk, pop and soul. In 2024, Simply Red will be performing exclusively at SnowpenAir in Switzerland.
The fans will be fired up even before top act Gotthard hit the stage. The Swiss rockers featuring singer Nic Maeder and guitarist Leo Leoni performed at the first edition of SnowpenAir in 1998, now they are coming full circle with their performance at the very last SnowpenAir. The 25th SnowpenAir will be opened by Juraya, with their powerful, melodic rock, which the five Swiss musicians also describe as a light show from the loudspeaker. After the concerts on the Männlichen, the party continues: DJs Moser & Schelker will be spinning the decks on Saturday in Terminal Square from 18:00 to 20:00 h.
Sunday is dedicated to Swiss dialect: the Stubete Gäng kick things off with their “ÖrbnLändlr”, in which Ländler meets hip-hop and the hoodie meets the Örgeli. Afterwards, Heimweh will convey pure joie de vivre, true to the motto of their new album “Freud am Läbe”. Anyone who hasn’t sung along to every line by then will do so by the time Sunday’s headline act arrives: As the last act in SnowpenAir history, Gölä will give his fans what they expect: Rock music at its best in the Swiss dialect universe, with hits and new songs from the album “U.F.O.”.
Final addition
For the second time, SnowpenAir is taking place on the Männlichen – in front of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Festival passes will again be limited to 6,000 per day. This offers the opportunity to enjoy the music, usually played in large arenas or stadiums, in a different, snowy setting.
“With the 25th and final SnowpenAir, we will once again be offering the audience a lot of good music. The headliner on Saturday, Simply Red, will be here for the first time for their only Swiss concert in 2024”, says Urs Kessler, Director of Jungfrau Railways and founder of SnowpenAir. The natural concert arena on the Männlichen with views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau comes close to the original on the Kleine Scheidegg. Arrival will again be possible from both sides – Wengen and Grindelwald – which will lead to a more even flow of guests.
